An American Girl (and boy) stuck in Paris

Spontaneity only goes so far…it got us to Paris but we yet had means to get home. So, John and I headed to the Internet café. We searched for cheap flights and we blessed to find two seats back to Milan (which we weren’t too excited about) on Tuesday morning. This gave us one more day in Paris than planned…not a bad predicament.
It had been raining the entire night before and we left the Internet café to grey skies and wet streets. On occasion, during the most inopportune times we would be outside in a downpour…rainy days in Paris sound romantic and ideal but not so much.

Our plan was to go INSIDE the Louvre (because the night before I was reading our travel guide and discovered the Mona Lisa…among other things…was inside the Louvre…see what reading does?) I also found out that to avoid crowds, you could purchase tickets from Virgin Mega store. John and I hopped on the metro and got our tickets. Our appointed entrance time was not until 6:30 p.m., so we saw an Italian café and stopped to eat.
After our wonderful meal we headed to the Lourve. We found our entrance and headed in…we were suddenly greeted by two guards “kindly” telling us that the Louvre was closed. John and I were quite confused, so we marched up to the main entrance and were told that our tickets were not valid until September. We got back on the metro, walked back into the Virgin Mega store, got a refund, and went back to the hotel.

We had yet to accomplish anything, and seeing that we only had and evening and one full day left we decided to take the Metro to the Eiffel Tower. Walking up to this massive structure was an amazing eye full. The setting that night was gorgeous, the rain clouds were lingering at the top and the light was causing the clouds to glow as it found its way through. We decided not to go up because it was 11:30 and with it being so late we could only get to the second level. We figured we would go the next day…it seemed like it would be a nice way to end our trip. Heading back to the hotel we prayed for good weather despite the forecast for more rain.

The next morning we woke up to blue skies! (The Lord has been so good to me on this trip). The first thing on our agenda was the Louvre…which was amazing. Than we found a wonderful place to eat lunch, had a little while to take a nap, went back to the Eiffel Tower (again soooo blessed that we made it to the top, since we were late), and stopped to see the Moulin Rouge.
We got back to the hotel, packed, slept for maybe 30 mins, woke up, got on a shuttle to the airport, got on our flight, got to Milan, got on a shuttle to the train station, took the train to Florence, walked to my apartment, and crashed! We were tired!
Paris was beautiful and I loved the feel of the city, I loved the hustle and bustle of the crowds. I was so blessed to gone there...and to have gone with John.
